Naked, Gold-Plated Trump Statue Goes on Display in European Parliament in Strasbourg

A two-and-a-half-meter-tall statue of a naked, gold-plated Donald Trump sitting on the shoulders of a tormented man has been exhibited in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Danish artist Jens Galschiøt has named the statue "The Orange Plague" and makes no secret of the fact that the artwork symbolizes what he sees as the American president’s threat to climate efforts and the rules-based world order.

Trump is destroying everything I believe in, Galschiøt tells CNN.

Danish MEP Per Clausen of the red-green Unity Party invited Galschiøt. All MEPs have the opportunity to exhibit works of art in the parliament building, but they must not cause offence.

A spokesperson for the European Parliament tells CNN that Galschiøt's artwork has been approved by a committee of representatives from the parliament's political groups.
