She kept a clean sheet against Brazil in the Olympic Games final and didn't let in a single goal when the USA won the World Championship final in 2019 against the Netherlands. But now, the American goalkeeper star Alyssa Naeher, 36, announces that she is quitting the national team.
To have been part of the American women's national team for the past 15 years is a great honor, says Naeher.
Naeher might, despite all her efforts for the national team, still be a bit bitter about getting a hand on Lina Hurtig's decisive penalty in the round of 16 in the World Championship last year, but still not managing to prevent it from going in.
Currently, Naeher is in London and training with the national team ahead of a match against England on November 30 and against the Netherlands on December 3.
She intends to continue playing for Chicago Stars in the American league, at least next season.
