"Winning a medal at the Olympics has always been a dream, and now that I have done it I have fulfilled it... In recent weeks I have felt that it is a wonderful opportunity to end my career as a professional skier. This will be my last World Cup season," the 30-year-old said in a post on Instagram.

Fähndrich has previously won three World Cup medals, but the silver in the sprint relay in Val di Fiemme behind gold winners Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvist was her first Olympic medal.

Nadine Fähndrich is seventh overall in the World Cup.
