It is uncertain whether Rafael Nadal will be able to participate in the OS, announces his coach Carlos Moya.

The Spaniard has suffered a thigh injury and did not train at all on Thursday.

He had a feeling on Wednesday morning. In the afternoon, he was more limited, and before it got worse, he decided to stop, says Moya to Spanish radio according to AFP.

Nadal had planned to play both singles and doubles, with his compatriot Carlos Alcaraz.

He is very keen on the OS. He has had it marked in his calendar for several years.

If the 38-year-old comes to play, he will face Marton Fucsovics in the singles in the first round on Sunday.

We are not forcing anything for the time being, and then we'll see if he recovers. We'll see what form he's in on Friday and Saturday, says Moya.

Nadal returned to tennis this year after hip problems and has played, among other things, the ATP tournament in Båstad last week, where Nadal reached the final.
