The Spanish tennis king Rafael Nadal will make double appearances in Båstad this summer – the 38-year-old will not only play the singles tournament but will also participate in the doubles.
According to the ATP website, Nadal will form a doubles pair with Norwegian world number eight Casper Ruud. The two met in the final of the French Championships in 2022 and then Nadal won his 14th grand slam title on the clay in Paris.
The former world number one Nadal, who has won 22 grand slam titles and two Olympic gold medals, has struggled with injuries in recent years and is now ranked 265th in the world.
Nadal has received a wildcard to the Båstad tournament, which he sees as good preparation for the Olympics in Paris. There, he will – in addition to playing in the singles tournament – play doubles with compatriot Carlos Alcaraz.
The ATP tournament in Båstad begins on July 15.
