The ceasefire in the ongoing civil war will now continue until April, the junta announced. This is due to the reconstruction work and requests from several aid organizations.

The earthquake on March 28 is estimated to have claimed over 3,700 human lives.

The civil war between the regime and several resistance groups has been ongoing since 2021, when the junta seized power in a military coup.

On Tuesday, however, the minority group MNDAA announced that it is ready to return the city of Lashio in the northeast to the junta. The city was captured by the group in August last year, and the return is taking place after Chinese mediation.
