”Where every stitch breathes/Juohke sákkaldat vuoigná” by Britta Marakatt-Labba. Moderna Museum in Stockholm

Samian life, the state's abuses and the exploitation of nature – these are themes in Britta Marakatt-Labba's woven worlds. In her acclaimed exhibition, you can see, among other things, the 24-meter-long embroidery "Historjá", which with hundreds of thousands of stitches tells about the Sami people's existence, history and worldview. "Blindgångare" by Lovisa Ringborg, Norrtälje Art Hall, Norrtälje

Lovisa Ringborg's exhibition is about "the explosive uncertainty in human existence". Here is a hundred-kilogram heavy statue of a wild boar, but also nature still lifes and feet carved in birch. Ringborg herself has said that the exhibition revolves around childhood memories and the subconscious. June 14–September 20

"The land of the future in 15 and 1/2 chapters", at Havremagasinet, Boden

In times when the gaze is directed towards the north due to the so-called "green transition", artists such as Anders Sunna examine the change through art. His Ragnar Mathisen recreates Sápmi in his maps and Kent Klich and Tina Enghoff highlight how refugees are left out of the collective memory. May 31–October 12.

"Belkis Ayón – mythologies", Bildmuseet, Umeå

She is one of Cuba's most prominent artists. Belkis Ayón makes art about the power of myths, at the same time as she transforms them. Among other things, she highlights voices that have challenged power structures in Cuba through the female character Sikán. May 23–September 23

"Invisibilis" by Lars Jonsson, Liljevalchs, Stockholm

He is Sweden's most famous painter of birds and nature, and now his life's work is being presented at Liljevalchs. Lars Jonsson draws the appearance and habitats of birds, but also a more poetic dimension of natural life. June 13–October 12.

"The great noise", Triennalen, Västernorrland

In ten locations, the contemporary art festival is taking place, which this year takes its starting point in the witch trials in 1675 in Ångermanland. It's about power structures and polarization, with themes such as violence, environmental destruction, conspiracy theories and folk beliefs. With, among others, Monica Sjöö, Kayo Mpoyi and Afrang Nordlöf Malekian. June 14–September 21, 2025

"A world of patterns", Watercolor Museum, Tjörn

The Watercolor Museum highlights the contribution of watercolor to pattern creation by showing pattern sketches. Here are seeds to the Arts and Crafts movement, modernism, Bauhaus and Scandinavian design, with artists such as Yinka Shonibare, William Morris and Sölvi Helgason. May 11–September 14.
