Musician, artist and composer Ted Ström died on Saturday after a period of illness, the family confirms to Aftonbladet .
Ström is perhaps best known for having written "Vintersaga", a song that is considered by many to be Sweden's unofficial national anthem. The song was released in 1984 and has been interpreted by artists such as Monica Törnell, Jerry Williams, Loa Falkman, Andreas Johnson and Amanda Bergman, in addition to Ted Ström himself.
Ted Ström was born in Gothenburg in 1944 and educated at Konstfack in Stockholm. He was a leading figure in prog music and later played in bands such as Contact and Norrbottens Järn.
His latest solo album "Skiften" was released in 2021.
Ström also wrote music for a large part of Lars Molin's television dramas and composed music for a number of other television series and films.
As an artist, he specialized in graphics and watercolors and had his art studio in Nora in Västmanland, where he lived with his wife Eva Ström since the early 2000s.
