The Frenchman Jacques Audiard went home from the EFA gala in Lucerne with three prizes, for best film, direction, and script for "Emilia Pérez".
In addition, the lead actress Karla Sofía Gascón received the prize for best actress. The film, which has its Swedish premiere on January 10 next year, won the jury prize in Cannes last spring and the audience award at the Stockholm Film Festival in November.
Swedish director Magnus von Horn's film "The Girl with the Needle" had a chance at four prizes, including best script. The Danish film had to settle for prizes for best music and best set design.
German director Wim Wenders and Swedish-Italian actress Isabella Rossellini received the honorary prize of the year. Rossellini thanked with a "Thank you!" in Swedish from the stage.
Norwegian Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel – Ingmar Bergman's grandchild – received the prize for discovery of the year for his film "Armand".
