A joint statement from the RIAA, the Grammy organization, SAG-AFTRA and others suggests a black box with the capital letters “AI” for a song that is “AI-generated.” A white box with a smaller “ai” would be used for songs that are “AI-assisted.”
"The new labels will help listeners distinguish between fully AI-created recordings and music where human artists have only used AI to a limited extent," the press release states.
The initiative comes after a sharp increase in AI-generated music on streaming services, with reports showing that a large proportion of new uploads were created in whole or in part with AI.
It is unclear if or when the platforms will start using the labels.
