During the renovation of the property on Skeppsholmen in Stockholm, the Swedish Real Estate Board replaced the elevator, requiring all objects and exhibitions to be taken down.

The museum opens with an exhibition about the Chinese artist Qi Baishi (1864–1957).

This autumn, an exhibition on Asian cultural heritage - "In Our Lives" will also be on display. The artwork "The Sun of Zealandia" will, in turn, be exhibited as part of a larger effort to challenge the museums' colonial history.
