A police officer charged with misconduct has been acquitted by Luleå District Court. The police officer was charged with failing to report that a young woman said her father had raped her. The woman was later found murdered by her father.

The court has concluded that the police were indeed obliged to take a report and that she committed misconduct, but that the error was minor.

Her actions were described as ill-considered in a rapidly developing situation. The court took into account, among other things, that the meeting was actually about personal protection.

The woman was found murdered in Lessebo in May 2024, six months later.

The woman's father and brother have been convicted of murder and aggravated assault - the father to life imprisonment and the brother to 16 years' imprisonment. According to Växjö District Court, it was an honor killing.
