The suspicions concern a series of serious violent crimes that occurred primarily in 2023 and 2024. These include murder, attempted murder and kidnapping in Stockholm and other locations.
In several cases, young people were used to commit the crimes, and the acts are suspected to be linked to conflicts between criminal networks.
"It is very satisfying that we have been able to arrest an instigator who is suspected of being behind a large number of violent acts," says Public Prosecutor Thomas Bälter, who is responsible for the case in which a woman died in an explosion in Fullerö in Uppsala Municipality in 2023.
Evidence in chats
When Greek police arrested the suspect, suspicions of new crimes arose, and he was sentenced to prison in Greece. He has now served his prison sentence in Greece and been extradited to Sweden.
The suspect has been linked to the case in Uppsala Municipality through chats in the encrypted messaging service Signal, according to Thomas Bälter.
"I consider the evidence to be good. The preliminary investigation is now continuing and will hopefully result in an indictment," he says.
Several murders are being investigated
He is now working with three other prosecutors responsible for the various crimes the suspect is accused of. The suspicions include the murder at Mälarhöjdens IP in Fruängen in September 2023.
The Prosecution Authority writes in a press release that prosecutors have notified Södertörn District Court that the suspect is available for a detention hearing. By law, the district court must consider the detention issue "without delay" and no later than within four days.
