The municipality of Salem is appealing the police's decision to grant permission for a far-right demonstration expected to be held on Saturday.

For the first time in 15 years, the far-right Salem march is expected to be held south of Stockholm.

"In previous years, similar events have resulted in widespread disorder, including confrontations between demonstrators and counter-demonstrators, vandalism, violence against officials and major police operations," the municipality writes on its website.

The municipality also points to significant consequences for residents who will have difficulty moving around the area. The operator Nobina has announced that bus services will be suspended for most of Saturday.
