"It is with sadness in our hearts and dismay that we wake up today," says the chairwoman of the municipal board, Åsa-Märta Sjöström, to SVT.

The municipality quickly activated its crisis support and released information about the incident. A total of 1,000 students in the municipality, which has around 12,000 inhabitants, were affected by the evacuations in connection with the incident.

On Saturday afternoon, it was confirmed that the suspected perpetrator is a student at the school, something that had previously been denied. This means that he also had a pass for the locked entrance.

Åsa-Märta Sjöström does not want to comment on it, but refers to the police investigation. The focus is now on taking care of everyone involved, she says.

"We don't know when we will be able to enter school again. It will require an incredible amount of support for the students and staff," she tells TT.
