The new superintendent was presented by Minister of Culture Parisa Liljestrand (M) at a press conference.
Tone brings extensive experience in vision and strategy work, as well as museum development and new perspectives on the role of museums in our time, says Liljestrand.
Tone Hansen describes the mission as coming home.
The museum has always been a great source of knowledge and information for me over the years as CEO and cultural worker in Norway, and it is with great humility and pride that I take on this assignment.
Hansen says she is looking forward to getting to know the three different institutions she will be leading. Since January 2026, Moderna Museet, ArkDes and the Swedish Arts Council have been part of a single large authority under the name Moderna Museet.
Even though the knowledge and responsibilities are different, I know from experience that differences strengthen us if we develop them together, says Hansen.
Hansen takes over from the current manager Gitte Ørskou, who is leaving the position on August 31 after seven years in the role.
