For four years, police have been trying to establish the man's identity.
In August this year, police released photos of the deceased's belongings and appealed for tips, which led a family to provide DNA samples.
Through the tests, police were able to find a relative of the man. His next of kin were notified on Friday.
The deceased man is said to have chosen to live in the woods and on the land, without means of communication and without contact with other people.
Police do not suspect any crime was committed.
