Elon Musk's platform X was partially down for large parts of Monday. The cyber attacks were made with "large resources", according to Musk who wrote about the attack on his own platform:
"Either a large, coordinated group or a country is involved", he wrote.
A while after the attack, when X was usable again, the hacker group Anonymous took responsibility for the attack. In a post spreading on several social media, the group writes that they "fight against fascism that has taken root in the USA" and that, among others, President Donald Trump and Elon Musk are "high on power".
The group Dark Storm, which sympathizes with the Palestinian side in the Gaza War, has also taken responsibility for the attack in posts on the platform Telegram.
However, Elon Musk says in an interview with the TV channel Fox News that the attack comes from the "Ukraine area".
We don't know exactly what happened, but it was a massive cyber attack to try to take down X's systems with IP addresses coming from the Ukraine area.
