At least nine people have died after a fire broke out in a military ammunition depot in Chad's capital N'Djamena late on Tuesday.
Dozens have been injured and the death toll may rise, according to Health Minister Abdelmadjid Abderahim, as several people have been injured "extremely seriously".
Powerful explosions at the depot, located near the city's airport, were heard from a distance and shook buildings up to seven kilometres away.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
In May, junta leader Mahamat Idriss Déby won the presidential election in the first round. The election was intended to be a step towards civilian rule, but was preceded by repressive measures to silence the opposition.
