One of the ambassadors is Portugal's. The country condemns the Russian attacks in strong terms and has summoned Russia's chargé d'affaires to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lisbon for a formal protest.
Russia carried out a very intense attack on Kyiv and an explosion caused relatively minor, material damage to diplomatic facilities belonging to several countries, says Portugal's Foreign Minister Raulo Rangel according to local media.
Portugal's embassy is located in the same building as, among others, Argentina's, Albania's, and Montenegro's – whose missions are also reported to have been damaged.
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is outraged by the attack.
"A despicable Russian attack", she writes on X.
"Putin's lack of respect for international law reaches new heights."
