In Gällivare, we have had wind power projects on the table that we ultimately had to say no to. Not because we are against the expansion, but because the conditions have not been good enough for the local community, says Jenny Jänkänpää, municipal councilor for the Green Party in Gällivare.
The Green Party does not think it is reasonable for certain locations to become production sites for energy and natural resources while the profits end up elsewhere. Therefore, they want to double and make permanent the support recently introduced for municipalities that build new wind power.
The Green Party also wants to introduce a new mining tax. Exactly how high it should be needs to be investigated.
It is important for all municipalities that currently have mines, and also if new ones need to be opened, says Green Party spokesperson Amanda Lind.
