The forest owners who take responsibility today will get nothing for it, says MP spokesman Daniel Helldén.
Sweden is on track to grossly miss the EU's requirement for carbon sequestration in forests (LULUCF). MP is now proposing a series of measures that, according to the party, could close the gap by 2030.
This includes protecting more forests, providing compensation to forest owners who postpone logging, and providing preferential government loans to forest owners who begin to transition to no-logging.
Many of our reforms are about increasing the freedom of choice for individual forest owners to switch to more natural forestry, says spokesperson Amanda Lind.
