The evacuation of the total 580 hikers who were stuck on Mount Everest's east side in Tibet is complete and the people have been taken to safety, reports the state Chinese media according to BBC.

Together with 300 local guides, the hikers suddenly got stuck at 4,900 meters altitude when a severe snowstorm blocked their route up to the mountain top. The rescue operation has been going on since Monday.

Usually, the weather on Mount Everest is favorable in October with clear skies and pleasant temperatures, which makes it one of the most popular months to climb the mountain.

One of the hikers who has visited the Himalayas more than a dozen times says to BBC that he "has never experienced similar weather".
