The evacuation of around 200 hikers who are still stranded on the eastern side of Mount Everest in Tibet is expected to be completed today.

The rescue operation has been ongoing since Monday and has rescued hundreds of hikers after a severe snowstorm suddenly made the retreat to the base camp impossible. The hikers were then stuck on the mountain in very difficult weather conditions.

But now, a source tells Reuters that the evacuation of the remaining hikers should be completed on Tuesday.

Due to a week-long holiday celebration, outdoor enthusiasts gathered to view the eastern side of Mount Everest before the weather turned and trapped them on the mountain.
