A girl in western Sweden showed a teacher bruises she said were from her mother's friend whipping her with a belt. The mother also allegedly "boxed" the girl in the forehead, reports GP.
The incident took place in 2024, and according to the indictment it happened because the girl missed school lessons.
The women have denied the allegations, saying the bruises came from a fall. However, text messages between the women discussing punishing the girl led the district court to disbelieve them.
The mother has been sentenced to one year and eight months in prison for assault, aggravated assault and child endangerment. The friend has been sentenced to one and a half years in prison for aggravated assault and unlawful threats.
"I have no comment other than that we will appeal," lawyer Anna Larsson told GP.
