Mother Karlsson: "Worse than when she was born"

It was not just Frida Karlsson who was tired after the World Championship gold on the historic five-mile race. Even her mother, Mia Karlsson, had been close to lactic acid. It was worse than when she gave birth, this, she says in Viaplay.

Frida Karlsson delivered a phenomenal 50km performance, when she secured the final World Championship gold and confirmed the final result 6–0 in the gold battle against Norway.

But maybe she wasn't the happiest one at Granåsen. Her mother, Mia Karlsson, was probably a notch more lyrical.

So I think I'm more tired than Frida is. I'm completely exhausted. It was worse than when she was born, this. And it went fast too. But it did today as well, she says to Viaplay after the gold.

Moreover, she reveals that it was long uncertain whether her daughter would make it to the start of the final 50km.

She wasn't even entirely sure of starting. So she's done fantastically, she's not entirely injury-free.

Frida Karlsson has had a tough season, where injuries have prevented her from competing for most of the season. Something that makes the gold taste even better for mother Karlsson.

It means a great deal. It's a damn metal bit, really. But still. And to do it here on the 50km. Finally, it was a good championship.
