Mia Karlsson flies to Italy on Sunday to follow her daughter during the remainder of the Olympics. The women's next competition is Tuesday's sprint.
"She's balanced and she probably wasn't in pain today. That's the key."
Frida Karlsson's personal trainer Per Nilsson also paid tribute to his mentee.
"The gut feeling this time was that she had done the right things. She was in balance. There have been some championships where she had a crappier start," Per Nilsson tells Radiosporten.
"The steady pace made them drop off one by one. She ground them down."
