The mother is charged with endangering another person. According to relatives, the child was left alone for extended periods several times, NSD reports.
The woman denies any wrongdoing but admits to leaving the child alone. During questioning, she said she had mental health problems.
Prosecutor Moa Grahn tells NSD that the case is similar to a recently reported case in Gothenburg, where a five-year-old girl who had been left alone at home burned to death.
"It could have ended badly in this case too, and that is part of the crime. You take a risk if you do it this way," Moa Grahn tells the newspaper.
