Motala’s New Government Opposes Nuclear Power Plants in the Municipality

Motala’s new red-green government says it opposes building nuclear reactors in the municipality, P4 Östergötland reports.

There have been tentative plans for nuclear power in Motala since Studsvik's subsidiary Kärnfull Next identified the municipality as a possible location for so-called small modular reactors.

But the new board, made up of S, V, C and MP, is now firmly opposed.

"We, all four parties, agree that no nuclear power plants should be built in Motala municipality. There is a company that has expressed interest in this, and we are completely against it," says Center Party member Maria Persdotter to P4.
