A thousand kronor for each shot wild boar. This is proposed by Motala municipality to get the growing wild boar population under control, writes Motala Vadstena Tidning.

According to the proposal, hunters will receive a premium of 1,000 kronor for each approved animal they shoot – however, a maximum of two per week. The premium is limited to 100 wild boars in 2025.

The municipality's technical committee will take a stance on the proposal in November.

It's these administrative bits around how to pay out this premium and what is an approved wild boar and such that need to be sorted out, says the committee's chairman Nils-Eric Dålse (SD) to MVT.

If the proposal is approved, it will apply from December 1. Shot wild boars are delivered to a slaughterhouse to then become food in the municipal activities.

The meat we can use is either used as minced meat or as stewing meat in the municipal cooking, says Dålse.
