Morrissey cancels concerts in the USA and Canada after a 26-year-old man threatened to murder him online, writes Pitchfork.

The man is now being prosecuted for having written about his plans to shoot the British singer at his concert in Ottawa. The 26-year-old wrote in a post on Bluesky that he intended to be in the audience and shoot Morrissey "several times with a very large weapon".

Morrissey cancelled his performance in Stockholm in June, as well as his appearance in Allsång på Skansen due to burnout syndrome.

He began his tour in North America on September 10, then the concert in Ottawa on September 12 and continued to Toronto and New York.

Despite the fact that the murder threat thus applied to an already performed concert, he is now cancelling tonight's concert in Mashantucket and tomorrow's in Boston with reference to "recent events and for precautionary reasons for the safety of both the artist and the band".
