At an event in the Moroccan city of Bouznika, Fouzi Lekjaa announced that the 2030 World Cup final would be played in the country.

What you should know is that the province of Ben Slimane will be tasked with hosting the final, Lekjaa said , according to several media outlets.

The International Football Federation (FIFA) has not confirmed where the final will be played.

Earlier this summer, it was reported that FIFA President Gianni Infantino had promised Morocco the final if the country supported him. Infantino's move came after massive criticism over plans to sell World Cup shares to private investors. FIFA later denied the reports.

The 2030 Men's World Cup will be played in six countries. The main hosts are Spain, Morocco and Portugal. Some matches will also be played in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay as the World Cup celebrates its 100th anniversary.
