Möregårdh's journey at the World Cup in Macau came to an end on Saturday. Japan's world number eight Matsushima easily beat the Swede after showing extremely good form.

Matsushima crushed Möregårdh in four straight sets with set scores of 11–7, 11–7, 11–8, 11–1.

"Today I worked on tactics," Matsushima said after the match.

The World Cup in Macau is one of table tennis's most prestigious competitions. Möregårdh was seeded second and was therefore seen as one of the big favorites.

In the semifinals, Matsushima will face Taiwan's Lin Yun-Ju, ranked seventh in the world. The match will be played on Sunday.
