Truls Möregårdh won his second match when he defeated Brazilian Vitor Ishiy 3–1 in sets and secured first place in his group.
The Olympic Games silver medalist started the tournament by defeating Australian Finn Luu 4–0.
Möregårdh's national team colleague Anton Källberg, ranked 16th in the world, also played his second group stage match on Wednesday. There, he defeated Nigerian Quadri Aruna 4–0 in sets.
The same score was achieved in Källberg's opening match against Abdel-Kader Salifou from Benin.
Thus, he too advanced to the round of 16 as group winner. There, he will face Chinese world number one Lin Shidong. World number seven Möregårdh will face Frenchman Simon Gauzy, ranked 55th in the world.
If Källberg upsets Lin and Möregårdh wins his round of 16 match, an all-Swedish quarterfinal awaits.
