The collection was recently found in a hidden space behind a bookcase in the attic of her former home in Oxford.
Created at the beginning of World War II, when Murdoch was still a young student, the paintings reflect the anguish of war as well as her early interest in surrealism and the naked female body.
Murdoch, who died in 1999 and was awarded the Booker Prize for “The Sea, the Sea,” was previously known for creating only three paintings during her lifetime. The exhibition runs at the University of Chichester in England until December 10.
