The Israeli military says it searched and, in some cases, raided 300 locations in the West Bank over the course of Saturday. The 70 detainees are suspected of being terrorists, according to Israel.
One of the places searched by soldiers was a specialist hospital in Nablus, according to hospital director Ghassan Barkat.
This should not be allowed to happen in a healthcare institution, says Barkat.
Israel's operation was ordered after Friday's deadly clash in an area near the town of Tell, in which four Palestinians and two Israelis were shot dead.
The circumstances surrounding the firefight remain unclear. According to several accounts in Tell, local residents were confronted by a group of settlers, after which Israeli forces were called in. One of the Israelis killed was reportedly part of a local defence force.
Tensions in the West Bank have increased in recent years in line with Israel's expansive settlement policy.
