More than 1,000 buildings have been destroyed and dozens of people have been injured, local authorities announced on Monday.
The heavy rains have continued for more than three days and several areas are flooded. Schools will be closed on Monday as rescue workers try to get people to safety. Residents are being urged to stay away from rivers and other waterways.
The eastern Indian state of Odisha is also flooded. More than 75,000 people there have been moved to safer areas.
