More than 3,000 migrants died in 2025 while trying to reach Spain, according to a report. The organization behind the report said this is a sharp decrease compared to the previous year.

According to Caminando Fronteras, a Spanish rights organization, the vast majority of the 3,090 migrants who tried to reach Spain in 2025 died in the Atlantic Ocean en route to the Canary Islands - a route considered particularly dangerous.

Last year, over 10,000 migrants died trying to reach Spain, according to the organization.

So far this year, nearly 40,000 migrants have reached Spain, a 40 percent decrease compared to last year.
