This is evident from a report by the research collaboration Sweden Against Organized Crime that Svenska Dagbladet has reviewed.
The 313 elected officials were identified when police intelligence material was compared with databases at Statistics Sweden. They include politicians at the municipal or regional level, as well as municipal auditors.
That the number was so large is surprising, says bailiff Fredrik Rosengren to SvD.
Of the 313, 73 have assignments this term, mainly at the municipal level.
According to police estimates, between 50,000 and 60,000 people are involved in gang crime.
