Over 112,000 residents have fled their homes recently as intense fighting erupted between the Iran-backed Houthi movement and forces led by Saudi Arabia.
About 3,000 have been forced to flee across the Red Sea to Djibouti, the UN said on Friday. The displacement is being exacerbated by the Houthi offensive on the Red Sea coast, according to the UN refugee agency, UNHCR. The provinces of Taiz and Lahj, which have seen intense fighting in the past two weeks, are particularly vulnerable.
Saudi airstrikes and direct military clashes with Yemeni government forces are additional causes.
The previous full-scale war between the Houthi movement and forces backed by Saudi Arabia from 2014 to 2022 claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.
