The outbreak includes 106 cases, mainly among children and young adults, the AP news agency reports. The first cases were noted as early as November.
According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), flavoured noodle products are the most likely source of the outbreak. The authorities say the cases can be linked to a producer in Ukraine, but do not specify which retailers are involved.
Reeva Foods announced last week that it had detected salmonella bacteria in a batch of instant noodles manufactured in Ukraine and destined for the Baltic market. An investigation has been launched and the batches have been recalled.
