A dire lack of roles for older women has long been a problem, and it doesn't look like that's going to change. Of the 100 most successful films between 2023 and 2025, 20 featured talking animals, six featured an actor named Chris - but only five had a woman over 60 in a leading role. The organization Age Without Limits calculated this, The Guardian reports.
"Women make up half the population and we are aging. So where are the stories about us? The older we get, the more interesting we are," actress Emma Thompson said.
Among the films with a woman over 60 are “The Substance” with Demi Moore and “Freakier Friday” with Jamie Lee Curtis.
