The demand was high for the first rapid training for home guard soldiers this summer. Next year, more will get the chance.

2026, voluntary military training (FMU) will be held at six locations in the country. Härnösand, Lomben, Kosta, Skövde, and Skredsvik are already set. The location for the sixth training session will be announced later.

FMU is a compressed military basic training that during five weeks gives volunteers the opportunity to learn military basics. After completing the training, you will be placed as a soldier in one of the Home Guard's units.

The demand was high for the first training session in Härnösand this summer. 158 people got a place – 20 women and 138 men aged 18 to 48 years.

"We see great opportunities ahead that this will be a good and valuable contribution to both filling our units and contributing to the will to defend that exists in society", says Brigadier General Mattias Ardin in a press release.
