A total of just over 168,000 people received unemployment benefits, which is an increase of 14 percent from last year. This is according to statistics from Sweden's unemployment funds.
Although the number of beneficiaries is increasing, the increase is occurring at a slower rate.
"Unemployment is still at a high level, but recently we have seen trends that the number of people receiving unemployment benefits is not increasing at the same rapid rate as last year," says Tomas Eriksson, head of the Swedish unemployment insurance funds, according to a press release.
