As the world order cracks at the seams, Swedes seem to be losing faith in NATO. Forty-seven percent of those surveyed have a lot or quite a lot of confidence in the defense alliance, according to the survey. That's a drop of 10 percentage points since last year.

In the other direction is Systembolaget, which now enjoys a trust rating of 73 percent - an increase of 1 percentage point.

The police top the list with 75 percent trust, while the Armed Forces have 69 percent. The Royal Family reaches record levels, with its trust at 53 percent - higher than the state, parliament and government. Trust in the Swedish Central Bank also rose - by a full 15 percentage points to 64 percent.

Among the media, Sveriges Radio once again tops the list with trust of 65 percent among those surveyed. At the same time, trust in Sveriges Radio has declined over time. In 2013, trust was 76 percent. At the bottom of the media are Aftonbladet and Expressen at 18 and 16 percent, respectively.

Trust in most parliamentary parties is increasing - but not in the Liberals. With 7 percent, the party is now in the same trust league as Tesla (8 percent), Flashback (7 percent) and TikTok (2 percent).

The trust barometer is based on 2,500 online interviews with people aged 16–84 from the randomly recruited Sifo panel.

Conducted by Verian (formerly Sifo) on behalf of the Swedish Media Academy.

It has been published annually since 1997.
