According to a British study, smoking is the second most popular option for those who want to quit using e-cigarettes. A survey from New Zealand shows that 14 percent of those who started using e-cigarettes to quit smoking later started smoking again when they wanted to quit vaping.
Researchers believe this is due to a misconception about the risks. While both contain nicotine, the harm from cigarettes is mainly due to inhaling smoke from burning tobacco, which is full of tar, arsenic and other chemicals. Despite studies showing traces of toxic substances in the vapour from e-cigarettes, they are still considered the less harmful alternative.
