Expressen writes that Canada, Croatia, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Germany are joining the nations that will not participate in the opening ceremony.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry says eleven nations have joined the boycott. Countries such as Ukraine, Finland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Estonia and Latvia have previously chosen to abstain from the ceremony in protest against Russians and Belarusians being allowed to participate under their own flags.

Sweden is not formally joining the boycott but will not participate in the opening ceremony.

Russia has been awarded six starting spots in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding, and Belarus has been awarded four starting spots in cross-country skiing.
