The proportion receiving unemployment benefits equal to 80 percent of their previous income has fallen sharply among members of the Kommunal union since the new unemployment insurance was introduced in October last year.
This is according to a press release from the Municipal Unemployment Insurance Fund.
In the new unemployment insurance, benefits are reduced after 100 days and there is no minimum benefit level.
In November 2025, four out of five members received 80 percent of their previous income, while the corresponding figure in July 2026 was just over half.
The proportion of members receiving 60 percent or less of their income has risen to about one in five beneficiaries, and some receive around 35 percent of their income.
