More highly leveraged households as mortgage cap rises to 90 percent in April

"We see that the proportion of households with new and renegotiated mortgages in the 70 to 90 percent range has increased to 37 percent in April, up from 35 percent the previous month," says Tove Åkerrén Ögren, economist at Statistics Sweden, in a press release.

"We can see that 71 percent of households with mortgages have a loan-to-value ratio of over 50 percent. The largest proportion have mortgages between 70 and 90 percent. Some households are at a level above 90 percent, based on current market valuation," she adds.
