The robot struck down on Tuesday. Two buildings that are said to have housed, among other things, a healthcare facility and office spaces were bombed. Rescue workers have dug and searched for missing people in the house ruins.
The authorities in the Zaporizhzhya region declared a day of mourning on Wednesday. In addition to the fatalities, around 20 people are reported to have been injured.
Last Friday, ten people were killed in a similar attack on Zaporizhzhya. The city is located by the Dnepr River in southern Ukraine, just a few miles north of the war's southern front line, in a region that is partially occupied by invasion forces. The intensified Russian shelling in the area in recent weeks has raised concerns about an impending offensive.
Russia's military accused Ukraine on Wednesday of having bombed a military airfield in Russian Rostov with robots of American design, with promises to respond with "appropriate measures".
